There are two possible ways to create a website. They are:
- Server based Website Creation Application (i.e. software provided by web
host)
- Client based Website Creation Application (i.e. software installed on
PC)
Server based Web Creation
Application
This option is simple, fast and inexpensive. There is no
need to purchase or install software, however, the resulting website is
typically unsophisticated and non-interactive (i.e. "brochure ware").
The website content is created and stored on the server computer.
- Find a web hosting service that provides site creation software.
- Use their web creator application on the server to design and
generate your website.
- Purchase a domain name and "point" it to your
new website.
Client based Web Creation
Application
This option is more complex and costly but the solution is more flexible,
portable and functionally rich than the first option.
- Purchase and install web creation software on
your computer
- Create your website on your hard drive
- Lease web hosting services for a web hosting company
- Deploying your website to the web server
- Access the server using your web browser, and configuring it if
needed.
